A prosperous New Year

The new year lies before me,
   A spotless, shining thing,
Bright as the promises of God,
   Fresh as the breath of spring.

A year to fill with lovely thoughts,
   And kindly, helpful deeds,
Losing all consciousness of self,
   In prayer for others' needs.

Sybil Leonard Armes

Wings of the Morning

Though I take the wings of the morning

And dwell by the farthest sea,

Even there, Lord, Thou art with me,

And Thy right hand guideth me.

If I mount up with wings, as an eagle,

And stand on the mountain peak,

Thy presence fills and thrills me,

Lord, as Thy face I seek.

If I abide in the lowest depths,

Burdened with grief and pain,

Even there, Lord, Thou art with me,

To lift me up again.

In height or depth, my Father,

In darkness or in light,

Thy matchless love surrounds me,

O God of grace and might.

Mable Custis

His yoke is easy

The world deceives me; it offers peace and joy and rest,
But ever leaves me with hungry heart and second best;
I came to Jesus, and there I found it all I'd missed!

My soul was thirsty; I hewed me broken cisterns vain;
My heart was fainting; but all I found was failures' pain
Till I met Jesus, who watered me with Heaven's rain.

For songs in nighttime, for joy in pain and help in need,
My Saviour hears me, forgives my sins and guides my deeds;
I love to serve Him, and so I follow where He leads.

My life was empty of all that's good and true and clean;
Until I met Him, no peace my wicked heart had seen;
But all the earth's tempests stirr'd up its sea of mire unclean.

A slave to Jesus, oh gladly would I ever be;
His labor joyful, reproach for Him is sweet to me;
Ten thousand blessings repay all pain I'll ever see.

His yoke is easy, His burden light;
His way is happy and always bright.
In this world's midnight, He is my light.
His yoke is easy, His burden light.

John R. Rice

He died for me!

Was it for me He bowed His head,
Upon the cross, and freely shed
His precious blood-- that crimson tide,
Was it for me the Saviour died?

It was for me...Yes all for me...
O love of God...so great, so free...
O wondrous love.... I'll shout and sing...
He died for me.... my Lord and King!

He made the way possible....

Ah, Lord God!  Behold,  You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm.      There is nothing too hard for You.  ♥

Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh.   Is there anything too hard for Me?  ♥♥

Scriptures from Jeremiah 32: verses 17 and 27.

These are by far my favorite verses.

Where there didn't seem to be a way for us to buy a house, God made a way possible!    My husband was retiring from the Air Force.    The lady at the bank had assured us that we would be able to get loan based on his retirement.   She would let us know more as she drew up the papers.   As we waited, my husband had to make a trip back to close on the other house.   (Which sold in a matter of 3 weeks!)     We figured this new house loan would be an easy deal.    As the days went on, the bank lady called to say, I'm sorry you won't be able to get a loan.   I couldn't believe what I was hearing.   I was upset to say the least.
One night I couldn't sleep...upset.. I began to pray.    Lord, now what do we do?    Flipping through the pages of my Bible.... I stumbled upon this scripture:  Behold, I am the Lord,  the God of all flesh.  Is there anything too hard for Me?         I read it over and over again.   Finally, I decided to give this new house, the loan, the bank lady, everything I could think of over to the Lord to handle.   Had I tried to handle this on my own.... it would've eaten away at me like a cancer.   That's what worry does.. it eats away...bit by bit.

When I decided to give it all over to God, and trust in the scripture he gave me... that's when doubts came into my mind, and from other (well-meaning) family members.    Saying things like: Oh, why don't you guys just forget buying that house, there will be others.     No, we wanted that house!   I wasn't about to give up what the Lord placed in my heart.   He gave me his promise.   I wanted to see what the Lord had in store for us.

About a week later.... a message was left on the answering machine.  I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you...but I wanted to let you know you have the loan.    Excitement filled my heart!     Waiting to see what the Lord would do....wasn't easy.   Waiting for an answer is never easy.    But we can trust in what the Lord says in His Word.

A Merry Heart

Proverbs 3: 5-7    Trust in the Lord with all your heart,  and lean not on your own understanding;  In all your ways acknowledge Him,  and He shall direct your paths.  ♥    Proverbs 10: 22  The blessing of the Lord makes one rich.   ♥   Proverbs 15: 13   A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance.   ♥  Proverbs 16:9  A man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.   ♥   Proverbs 17: 22  A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.  ♥  Proverbs 25:25  As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.  ♥   Proverbs 25: 11  A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.   ♥      NKJV

Have Faith

....Ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.   James 1:6 NKJV

Prayer is trusting in God's promises.

Don't let doubt get in the way of what you are hoping the Lord to do in your life.
Give all your cares and burdens to him.  Ask any time day or night, he is there, waiting for you.   With arms open wide, he will give you the comfort you desire.  He will give perfect peace to those whose eyes are stayed on him.

God sees what you have need of...whether it be a job you are seeking, or a healing.  He already knows.  But he wants you to ask.

The word tells us in James 5:13- Is anyone among you suffering?  Let him pray.  Is anyone cheerful?  Let him sing psalms.  Verse 14 - Is anyone among you sick?  Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  Verse 15 - And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.
Verse 16 - Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.  The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Bible verses from NKJV.

Blessings to you.

You are my hiding place

For you are my hiding place you protect me from trouble.

You surround me with songs of victory.

Psalm 32:7

Be strong and courageous!  Do not be afraid of them!

The Lord your God will go ahead of you.   He will neither fail you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6

When a storm approaches and we are outdoors, we run for some kind of cover.  Instantly we feel protected and comforted, until the storm passes over.
In life there are storms.
Family struggles, financial difficulties.
When these storms hit, there needs to be a place in which to run.
We need to feel assured that everything will be okay.
To feel comforted and protected.
There is a place to go.

God the Father is our hiding place.  He is a strong tower where we can go and feel protected.

Luke 21:26

Men's hearts will faint because they are so afraid, looking at the things that are coming upon the earth.  Luke 21:26.

When we fix our eyes on the Lord,  he will keep us in perfect peace.

It is time to prepare for the coming storm.   Many say to stockpile food, ammo, MRE's, medicines, etc.

Even though that may be wise to a point, what is even more important is learning the ways of God and preparing His hiding place, where is never a fear!

God wants us to be bold in Him.   Our own strength will only go so far, then will fail.   His strength will NEVER fail!!    ~The Sojourner's Log

We Have Hope

We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

perseverance, character;

and character, hope.

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 5:3-5
